The Sugar Detox is November 1st – 21st. Detoxing is a way to reset the habits we have acquired over the years and to help us to do things that can be beneficial to our bodies. . The goal of the Detox is to help participants naturally remove harmful toxins in the body. As always, prior to starting the challenge, contact your physician to make sure it is okay for you to participate in this challenge or to make any of the changes to your diet.
If you have participated in one of the Health Resource challenges previously and want to participate in the sugar detox you don’t have to re-register to participate.

Participants are encouraged to eat:
· Fruits and vegetables: A wide variety of colorful fruits, leafy greens, root vegetables are encouraged. Green tip bananas right before they ripen completely and green apples are encouraged
· Lean proteins: If you eat meat – Poultry (chicken, turkey), white fish (flounder, cod, trout )are often included.
· Whole grains: Choose whole grains like brown rice, quinoa and oats.
· Healthy fats: Use cold-pressed oils like olive or grape seed oil, or include nuts and seeds (if not allergic to them).
· Hydration: Drink plenty of water, and herbal, caffeine-free teas are also recommended.
Foods to avoid:
· Added sugars: Avoid sugar from processed foods, baked goods, and sugary drinks. Avoid candy, read labels to identify hidden sugars like dextrose and sucrose.
· Processed foods: Avoid pre-made meals, packaged snacks, and anything with preservatives or artificial ingredients.
· Dairy: Avoid dairy products like milk, cheese, and yogurt.
· Alcohol and caffeine: avoid alcohol and coffee, especially in the beginning.
· Refined grains: Avoid white bread, white pasta, and other products made with refined flours.
